•• В иерархии бизнеса это слово означает управленческое звено, стоящее выше, чем manager. По сути это близко к русским словосочетаниям ответственный сотрудник/работник, руководство, руководящее звено. В банках executives и managers называют обычно officers (в отличие от staff – обычных сотрудников).
•• Другие значения этого слова в общем неплохо описаны в словарях, например, в Новом БАРСе (см., например, executive-class car – автомобиль высшего класса, executive session – закрытое заседание). Правда, отсутствует часто встречающееся выражение executive decision. Это решение, всю ответственность за которое руководитель берет на себя.
